If you are experiencing domestic abuse and need immediate help, ask for ‘ANI’ in a participating pharmacy.  
If a pharmacy has the ‘Ask for ANI’ logo on display, it means they’re ready to help. They will offer you a private space, provide a phone and ask if you need support from the police or other domestic abuse support services.
Despite the lockdown, if you are experiencing domestic abuse, this is an exemption to the rules and you can move to another household for safety. 
Sutton Women’s Centre also offers a range of support including The Freedom Programme (details of which you’ll find below) and one to one counselling.  Please contact us if you want to find out more.


We are starting a new Freedom Programmes in February.  These will all be online.  We are hoping to restart face to face courses in the near future, once Covid restrictions have been lifted.   Please let us know if you would like to join.

Effects of domestic violence on children and how to recognise potential future abusers

This informal 6-week course provides you with an opportunity to review and update your current skills and consider new approaches to your job search. 
We will also look at education, training and volunteering as a means to updating your current skills.

This course helps you to look at what you really want, gives you the opportunity to get creative and dream of what’s possible and enables you to get planning the first steps towards the future you want.

Linda Wood has devised a new course for anyone who feels anxious and stressed or for anyone with an interest in the subject.  The course will help you to gain an understanding of where feelings and emotions come from, why we feel how we do, to understand that feelings come and go and to learn how to feel calmer when feeling stressed or overwhelmed.

This course will deal with a mixture of Writing Therapy and other useful self help information on issues like personal development, anxiety, OCD and grief; as well as sections on other therapies like Mindfulness, CBT, Counselling and Assertiveness Training.
The course is designed to help everyone improve their own writing skills as well as their mood and self-esteem levels. All you need is a few hours per week, an interest in writing and therapy and a willingness to change.
Material will be sent out every 2nd Tuesday of the month for 12 sessions. This will give members plenty of time to read the material, do the practical exercises and their own writing. Please join us.

Households across Sutton will soon be asked to take part in Census 2021.
The census is a once-in-a-decade survey that gives us the most accurate estimate of all the people and households in England and Wales. It has been carried out every decade since 1801, with the exception of 1941.
Everyone across England and Wales will be asked to take part and the information people give will decide how services are planned and funded. Ultimately, it ensures funds are invested in emergency services, health care, school places and other vital services.
It will be the first run predominantly online, with households receiving a letter with a unique access code, allowing them to complete the questionnaire on their computers, phones or tablets.
Census day will be on March 21, but households across the country will receive letters with online codes allowing them to take part from early March.
The census will include questions about your sex, age, work, health, education, household size and ethnicity. And, for the first time, there will be a question asking people whether they have served in the armed forces, as well as voluntary questions for those aged 16 and over on sexual orientation and gender identity.
Results will be available within 12 months, although personal records will be locked away for 100 years, kept safe for future generations.
